Okay, listen. It’s been a long time coming, but I’m finally ready. I think.
I challenged myself to have the first episode out by October 1st. Well, I blew past that deadline, primarily because I had an out of town wedding to prepare for and then some health issues that sort of zapped my energy. Then I had a miniature pity party for myself. Then I got over it.
Because, 1. I know I’m over-thinking this. 2. I know I’m not the only who thinks history is profoundly interesting. 3. My favorite podcasts are all amazing and different and surprisingly not super polished. That is to say they are adequately polished, just not run by some over-arching podcast company with a studio and editors and whatnot. Yes, I’ll have a learning curve, but I think I might as well jump in and learn as I go. Hopefully, listeners will be kind during the growing pains. Hopefully, I’ll have listeners.
Actually, now that I am thinking about my favorite podcasts, I want to send a little shout out to Emma Ozenbrook from the “Real Life Ghost Stories Podcast” and Josie Rosenberg-Clarke and Melissa Mason from “All Aussie Hour” (and other previous podcasts). These ladies are my personal podcaster icons. I will listen to them as long as they have a pod, and I will sing their praises near and far.
Emma is a dynamo of constancy and storytelling. She does it in a way that gives me the best “spooky stories around the campfire” vibe with a dedication that is truly awe-inspiring. Josie and Mel started a podcast in 2018, I believe, while they were co-workers. They’ve both since changed jobs, moved cities, and have remained friends and podcast co-hosts. Listening to them feels like joining besties at a laughter-filled, tea-spilling Aussie-themed brunch. Please go listen to Emma if you want spooky stories, or catch Josie and Mel if you want a fun take on a variety of Australian stories.
Anyway, I have decided it’s okay to try and not be perfect. Perfection is a long held ideal that I often trip over. But I need to give myself some grace, and just start trying and hopefully learn and improve as I go.
So, all of that is to say that the inaugural episode of “The History Chaser Podcast” is coming soon. I’m not going to give myself a deadline stumbling block, but the research has begun (again), and I am getting really excited about sharing it with y’all. I hope you’ll join me when it gets going. This website will be the primary location for podcast news, but there will also be a Facebook page and Instagram account dedicated to the podcast. We’ll see what other social media may happen as we go along.
Stay tuned!
